Dyson Enters Robot Mopping with Spot+Scrub at IFA

Dyson has a reputation for shaking up home cleaning and at IFA 2025 in Berlin it finally took the wraps off its first combined vacuum and mop robot. The Dyson Spot+Scrub Ai Robot is designed to handle both dry debris and sticky spills with the kind of precision you would expect from a company known for engineering power. With advanced navigation, self cleaning features and a smart dock that promises full maintenance, Dyson is signalling it wants a big piece of the robot vacuum market.

Spot+Scrub Ai Robot: Dyson’s First True Two in One

The Spot+Scrub Ai Robot stands out because it does more than vacuum. It scrubs floors with a powered roller mop and uses sensors to detect stains that need extra attention. When the mop encounters a stubborn mark, the robot stops to give the spot a deeper clean, much like a human would. At the same time, it maintains strong suction on carpets and hard floors and raises the mop to avoid soaking rugs. This makes it flexible enough to cover an entire home without leaving areas unfinished.

Navigation is handled by a LiDAR system paired with cameras, giving it an accurate map of the home and allowing it to move around with confidence even in low light. Dyson’s AI driven software decides when to mop, when to scrub and when to focus on vacuuming, adjusting to the type of mess it finds. This intelligence is what makes the Spot+Scrub more than just another hybrid cleaner.

A Dock That Does It All

Alongside the robot, Dyson showed off a multifunction dock that looks to take care of daily upkeep. It empties the dustbin, washes and dries the mop, refills the water tank and even drains the dirty water away. In theory this means far less time handling the robot and more time enjoying clean floors. The dock is bulky compared to some rivals but the promise of true automation could make up for the footprint.

What It Means for Buyers

For people considering a premium robot vacuum, Dyson’s entry into the space is big news. The Spot+Scrub Ai Robot is initially launching in China before rolling out to other markets, though exact pricing and UK availability have not yet been confirmed. If Dyson’s history is any guide, it will sit at the higher end of the price spectrum. The key question will be whether the performance and the all in one dock justify that premium.

IFA 2025 proved that Dyson is serious about robot vacuums. By combining powerful vacuuming, scrubbing and a dock that reduces maintenance, the Spot+Scrub Ai Robot aims to set a new standard for what people can expect from a floor cleaning robot. If you are shopping for a high end option in the coming year, this is a launch worth watching closely.
