Origin of Robo Selector: Why I Built a Site About Robot Vacuums

When I first started thinking about buying a robot vacuum, I had no idea I’d end up building a whole website about it. Honestly, I just wanted a clean floor without constantly cleaning up after the kids and dog. What I got instead was a deep dive into the surprisingly complex world of robot vacuums, and eventually, the idea that turned into Robo Selector.

I’m Dave, the creator of Robo Selector, and I’ve always been interested in tech that makes life easier. I love things that save time, reduce hassle, and just work in the background without needing much from me. Robot vacuums seemed like the perfect fit. Set it, forget it, and let it do its thing. Or so I thought.

When I started shopping around, I quickly realised it wasn’t going to be a simple decision. There were dozens of brands, hundreds of models, and an overwhelming list of features. Some promised incredible suction power, others boasted advanced mapping and obstacle avoidance. There were vacuums that could mop, self-empty, and even talk to you, but what I really wanted to know was which one would actually work best for me, in my home, with carpets and my dog.

The more I looked, the more I suffered from choice paralysis. Reviews were all over the place. Brand websites sounded great, but everyone said theirs was the best. YouTube comparisons were helpful, but don't cover durability and maintenance. Forums were full of useful opinions, but it took ages to sift through them.

So I started doing what I do best: organising information. I opened up a spreadsheet and began collecting details on the vacuums I was considering. Price, features, height, noise levels, you name it. I added notes from customer reviews, pulled insights from expert write-ups, and started to get a clearer picture of what actually mattered. Before long, my spreadsheet had grown far beyond what I expected.

At some point, I realised I wasn’t just doing this for myself anymore. I had something useful, something that could help other people who were in the same boat. I’d already done the hard work of digging through the noise and comparing all the options, and I figured, why not make that effort available to others?

That’s when Robo Selector was born.

I turned my research into a website designed to make the decision process easier. Instead of hunting through countless reviews, Robo Selector uses AI to summarise expert opinions and real customer feedback so you can see what actually matters. Want something quiet? Great with pet hair? Easy to clean? You can find that here, and you can compare across all major brands in one place.

This site is for anyone who’s ever searched for a robot vacuum and felt overwhelmed. It’s for people who want to make a smart purchase without spending days reading reviews. Most of all, it’s for people like me, people who just want clean floors and a bit more time back in their day.

Thanks checking out my site. I hope Robo Selector helps you find the perfect robot vacuum. And if it doesn’t, I’d love to hear how I can make it better.
